The four waterfall trail through ‘Waterfall Country’ in the Brecon Beacons takes in four stunning falls, Sgwd Clun-Gwyn, Sgwd Isaf Clun-Gwyn, Sgwd y Pannwr and Sgwd-yr-Eira. set in ancient native woodland. Waterfall Country is part of the Brecon Beacons National Park and the forest Fawr Geopark, with steep, tree-lined gorges and an abundance of tumbling water. You can do this trail on its own as circular walk in a few hours or connect with the Gunpowder TrailElidir Trail and Sgwd-yr-Eira trail which make up a vast network taking in three different gorges.

From the north you can start at the Cwm Porth car park, where the River Mellte vanishes into the largest cave entrance in Wales, its a 30-45 min walk to the first fall Sgwd Clun-Gwyn. Alternatively you can start at Clun-Gwyn which is located between the villages of Pontneddfechan and Ystradfellte. There is a small lay by here and a overflow (paid) car park in the adjacent field at peak periods. Its a short 10 min walk to the first fall. There’s a small shop located 100m further along the rd that sells ice cream and snacks. Lastly you can start at Dinas Rock located at the northern end of the village Pontneddfechan and take the connecting Gunpowder Trail or the Sgwd-yr-Eira trail. Its a two hour walk to the first fall Sgwd-yr-Eira.

Each waterfall is incredibly impressive. at Sgwd-yr-Eira, you can walk behind the fall on an official public footpath behind veil of tumbling water.

The area is popular for Caving, Gorge walking and white water kayaking, find a guide
