About
The highest peak in the Brecon Beacons National Park
This is the most direct route to the summit of Pen y fan from the storey arms carpark and the most popular. A alternative route starts from the Neuadd Reservoirs north of Ponsticill. This walk to the summit of Pen y Fan talks a few hours at a leisurely pace. The start of the walk is quite strenuous, requiring a steep climb, but the path levels out towards the summit except for short climbs. The route is well marked and easy to follow, but the path is rough and stoney. Please take the usual precautions for walking in mountainous country and be aware that even during warm weather Peny Fan summit can be cold and windy. There are usually plenty of people at the summit which has become a popular spot to watch sunrise.Photos
