About
This walk starts at Pontneddfechan Village Hall which was once a store for gunpowder and the sole building to survive intact following closure of the industry. Parking is available at the village hall or alternatively 100 meters across the river is Dinas Rock Carpark. The trail starts on the track adjacent to the village hall. Please note the access track is privately owned and vehicle access is prohibited. The trail takes you alongside the river (right) for about 2.5 miles on a level course. You will spot occasional reminders of the gunpowder industry with building ruins, many covered by foliage. After 1 kilometre, a bridge crossing the river (once a branch of the tramway) has been refurbished as a footway. Continue on the main trail to the site of a weir with more extensive remains of industry including the Corning House (left). Loonies leap can be viewed from the second bridge, which is a popular jump for gorge walkers.Photos
