- Tom Rowlands 19/08/2024Love getting behind the back of the fall Not many waterfalls gives you the chance to get behind them. Was very impressive and completely worth the walk, the forth watwrfall is the main event and is the furthest away but you can skip the 2nd and 3rd to speed it up if you are on a time constraint like I was.read moreread lessRachael K 14/08/202410/10 for the waterfalls 0/10 for the crowds. Stunning place and definitely worth seeing if you’re in the area. I’ve wanted to visit for ages and I’m so glad we went. Beyond beautiful and worth the walk. There are two car parks, card only, £6 and they fill up fast. No where else local to park properly. We parked at Cwm Porth, toilets are handy. Buying a map for £1 was great, especially knowing the money goes back to the park. No bins on the way around so be prepared to take your litter home with you. It was VERY upsetting to see how many people clearly had room in their bags for crisps/drinks/sandwiches/wet wipes etc while they served a purpose…but once packets/bottles were empty, apparently they don’t have space to carry them anymore. Disgusting. Several parts of the walk are tough going if you’re not a keen walker/hiker. Lots of steep steps and slippy bits but manageable if you take it slow. It’s all pretty rugged and natural as it should be. Just take your time if you’re not confident. Shame about all the other people there. It’s been plastered all over social media so every man and their badly behaved dog was there. Go mid week when the kids are back at school though and it’s probably much better. Queueing to look at nature felt weird.read moreread less

Beautiful walk, defo wear some comfy footwear and have a change of clothes if you go in the rain/muddy weather. 6.15k took us to 2 waterfalls around 2 hours. 170 down to the water fall you can walk behind - I suggest counting them as you walk back up, makes it easier to climb.read moreread lessSsray 05/08/2024For waterfalls - amazing The carpark is now £6 and is by card machine Really nice walk, the fall you can walk under has a lot (170?) of steps, quite a few were muddy and wet, not very even or the same height, my wife decided not to risk it Took us 5 hours but it's not our usual thingread moreread less
- KVM 01/08/2024Beautiful falls ruined by litter. The waterfalls are beautiful, but the park is badly maintained. There is rubbish strewn everywhere - although the wardens claim they pick it up every day, I just don't believe it, there's no way that amount of rubbish could be produced each day and some of it looked pretty old. Some of the steps down to the waterfall are quite eroded so the stair risers are poking out of the ground and are a considerable trip hazard. Lovely falls but the whole experience was spoiled by the litter and cans bobbing around in the waterfall waterfall water.read moreread lessNoybta 26/07/2024Great walk - just don’t believe the wardens (too much) ! Great waterfall walk - very spectacular even on a grey day. The wardens are friendly but their advice seems to be geared towards managing the crowds not actually the best experience. First thing to say - if you can park at Porth Cwm, do - the walk from their is MUCH nicer than the dull walk in from Gwuan Hepste (especially if you do it both directions). If Porth Cwm is full there’s a nice path that takes you there from Gwaun Hepste (the wardens say there isn’t). Not on the OS Map or the site map weirdly but signed if the look backwards (only if you look back?!) as you pass a path on the right walking down the main route. Then don’t neglect to check out the cave where the river Melte disappears underground - and reappears 250m downstream (either side of Porth Cwm carpark). Then do the main waterfall route anti-clockwise rather than clockwise (as the wardens advise) so you walk behind the bottom waterfall as the climax (and latest in the day when it may catch the sun)read moreread less
- Bruce C 24/07/2024Amazing Challenging Walk With Great waterfalls Amazing walk including 4 varied waterfalls, well signed posted and wardens / information point at beginning of Gwaun Hepste Car park, including caravan coffee/tea shop and toilets (although porta loos). All day parking for just a fiver. The walk itself although it was July, the paths up and down to the waterfalls were still wet and slippery and quite challenging i.e steep and long, the circular path if you avoid going down to the waterfalls (but what's the point in that) is quite easy to navigate and suitable for all, with several benches and picnic spots. The waterfalls are amazing with the chance to walk behind one and take pictures or get soaked. It's advertised as about 3 1/2 to 4 hour walk, covering 5 1/2 miles, it took us about 2 hrs 40 mins at a steady pace.read moreread lessNatasha O 14/07/2024Gorgeous place but a hard walk Absolutely gorgeous place but NOT an easy walk.. Lovely path for about 20 minutes after that omg all down hill haha.. 3 / 4 steep hills to walk back up on the way back, uneven steps to the first waterfall all down hill again, skipped 2 waterfalls as they were also down a steep hill, lovely straight walk to the last waterfall the one you can walk behind Absolutely spectacular view however very deep steps to get down, there all down hill again lol 😆 I don't know why I thought it would be easy.. My partner is ex army and even he struggled. Take lots of water, good pair of walking boots. I was a little saddened by the colour of the water or I would have went for a dip but it isn't swim safe. Lovely place however, but very very uneven slippery, steep. People taking babies and young children on there backs really scared me, the rocks are so uneven and slippery it isn't safe.read moreread less

- Abbie 17/05/2024A picturesque walk A long, beautiful walk. Be warned that some of the accessibility to the actual waterfalls off the paths isnât great, lots of slippery steep steps and rocky paths, however if taken slowly and with care they are achievable for most people. We took our 2 dogs and they absolutely loved playing in the water and there were lots of benches en route in the shade to stop and rest on hotter days. The paths are well cared for and maintained and we felt safe at all times. We typed in âFour waterfalls car parkâ intk Google maps, at the moment the road that maps trues to take you down is closed one way, however you just have to go back into the small village and around the other side, i assume this is to create a one way system to the car park as the surrounding roads are definitely single tracks with minimal passing points. Toilets at the car park are satisfactory, they are kept clean enough.read moreread lessFrancis 10/05/2024Mooie wandeling Mooie wandeling langs verschillende watervallen. Goede paden. There are toilets and a snack van with hot food at the car park. It was £6 to park all day and card only. A lovely gentleman helped us with the map on the wall and directed us to all 4 waterfalls. Waterfall 1 was 11 on the map and easy to get to with a 25 minute walk from the car park along the gravel track with signs directing you to waterfalls. Waterfall 2 is 25 on the map , 15 minutes walk further , down a steep track with half rocks and half steps, can be slippery when wet. To the right of that waterfall is a 5 minute path to Waterfall 3 ( our favourite) where we went in for a swim. Back up the steep track ( took our breath away) To the original path and another 15 minutes to Waterfall 4 where you walk down 100 steps. This Waterfall you can walk behind it and out the other side. We got very wet but loved it. Back up the steps to the original path and you can either go back the way you came or turn right up a very steep hill back to the car park 55 minute walk. Absolutely loved the experience and would definitely do it again. Wasn't very busy as we went on a Friday during school hours. Water was freezing but so glad we went in for a swim. Highly recommend. It took us 5 hours but we stopped at every Waterfall for a good 20 minutes and swam for 90 minutes and had our picnic. Overall I would say 3-4 hours ( without a swim) .read moreread less
- Lisa M 10/04/2024The Four Waterfall Walk Really enjoyed my experience at the four waterfalls walk. The surrounding area and the waterfalls were stunning. The Team at the beginning of the walk were super friendly and knowledgeable which made the whole experience even better. The trail was easy to navigate, there were toilets at the start/end of the trail and the contactless payment for parking was easy (£5). Just a heads up, the road leading up to the waterfalls was quite narrow and busy. It was definitely an adventure navigating the road in a campervan! - Ashley R 01/04/2024Good day out Overall the walk was a good day out. We arrived at 11, parking was a nightmare as the 2 carparks were full and over flows were closed due to the area having alot of rain. We ended up parking a mile away. The walk took us 5 hours in total and that was including us stopping for lunch. I didn't find the maps on route that helpful. It wasn't a loop round, we had to walk back the same way we came. - Abigail C 24/02/2024Not a Flat Walk!!!! Stunning waterfalls. Advertised as a mostly flat walk, but have to disagree. Nearly passed out walking back up the steep cliff from waterfall 4 (stairs are more like mini cliffs themselves), slipped down the steep path to waterfalls 2 and 3 getting covered in mud, and then took another steep walk back to the overfill car park that seemed to go on forever. FYI only Cwm Porth car park has toilets and it filles up before 11am. Parking is £5 -card only. Overall I very much enjoyed this walk. Started a bit late at 2pm, but made it round in 3.5 hours - taking our time to admire the beautiful views. We walked in jeans and trainers. Wear walking boots if you have them as it’s a bit craggy and slippery in places, but was manageable. If you’re not used to walking and climbing steps (generally unfit) it is quite challenging on the sections down and then back up from the waterfalls - but it’s well worth it. Start the day early so that you can take your time. We walked behind Sgwd Yr Eira - you have to do this for the experience - and didn’t get wet (just a misty covering). Just take care as the stones are wet and potentially slippery. Would definitely recommend this trail. We arrived at the waterfalls at around 11 after a 2 hour drive. The car park was almost full on a Wednesday, albeit in the school holidays. As others have said, itâs like arriving at a theme park or family attraction rather than a peaceful day out in nature. I dread to think what itâs like on a weekend! As keen hikers, we were looking forward to our day out but it was far too busy to enjoy. There is no chance of getting anywhere near the waterfalls as there are people climbing all over them. I have been coming here for 25 years and how it is changed. By contrast to when I could stand alone under Sqwd Yr Eira, it is now closer to a theme park. Charming though they are, a small army of viz vest volunteers are now needed to marshall the car parks and direct you to card only pay machines and rancid portaloos. Other ' advances ' are the gravelled pathways carved into the landscape, that will fastrack you to the falls - next stop hot dog vendors. This has come about due to a ' Secret' giveaway TV programme and the exponential growth of social media imagery. On that note, during my last and final visit, I couldn't relax due to the sight of parents lining up their under 8's, to take images perilously close to the edge at Clun-Gwyn, with tripping stones and exposed tree roots, just inches away. I am pretty sociable and love the collective vibe of pubs, theatres and sporting events but the next time that I want a day in nature, I won't be driving 70 miles to Ystradfellte.read moreread less

- galaxy112013 05/08/2023Parking drama ruined experience Dreadful roads near the main car park. Arrived early so had no issues parking. We parked in the end space. Paid £5. Then went on the walk, this took us 3 1/2 hours but we did not stop for lunch which many people did ad you could take a packed lunch with you. We arrived back to find we had received a parking fine, we had supposedly prevented another car from parking next to our vehicle. There was room for a motor bike but no car, unless it were a âtoyâ car could have fitted in the gap. We were told by the ladies policing the car park that they could have fitted half a car next to our car with the back section sticking out so weâd prevented them making £5. We argued the point it was not marked up as a space, nor could a car fit in there but there was no acceptance that this was the case. We asked that feedback be provided but it seems itâs a cheeky way for them to make money. Hearing that parking for the attraction can get hectic we went without breakfast and set off early to ovoid the issue. Arriving at the main car park we were greeted by signs saying the car park was closed and to follow signs to alternative parking. This was in fact a CON ! the carp park was running as normal but the trust have decided to penalise people who try to help out by arriving early. You find yourself having to drive further than everyone else to a car park which is further away from the attraction . You then have to walk further than everyone else and worst of all you have to contend with a very long and very steep hill completely avoided if allowed to park at the main car park. Having seen the falls which I'm sure would look spectacular if in flood, my wife and I encounter lots of others just arriving, being told the path they were on led back to the car park (we assumed this was the alternative Park we were forced to use as the other was closed) we followed what we believed was an alternative path back to the car park. Only to arrive at the park which signs had claimed was closed. We then had to retraced our steps back to the falls and return on the original path. - Tania H 25/09/2022Amazing but not an easy walk The walk was lovely but I underestimated how hard it would be. The walk from car park was nice and flat for about 20 mins and then went quite steeply downhill, lots of stones and rocks. We went round in reverse from there so went to big waterfall first… lovely walk but then you have to climb down 800 m down to the waterfall…. 170+ very steep steps (hard going on my short legs) very few hand rails. To walk behind the waterfall you have to clamber over lots of rocks to get to the path…. We didnt do this! Climb back up was very hard going lots of stops on the way! Walk round to next waterfall was ok. Waterfalls 2 and 3 ….. 1km to walk down very slippery rocky paths…. Not good on the ankles and knees and even worse coming back up. Last waterfall was ok, only a five minute walk down but handrails to hold onto which was very much needed. Walk back to car was about 40 mins of which about 15 mins was all up hill! I walk daily but found the green routed paths to the waterfalls hard going!£5 card payment to park all day, portaloos in car park, snack caravan that made the best cup of tea, cold drinks and snacks all very reasonable. All very well signposted along the walk but zero phone signal on vodafone. Read the boards above each waterfall which advises how far down and how strenuous the walk. Would like to see this information included on the mapsDon’t go in trainers or anything other than walking boots as very rocky and slippery even though it had been dry beforehand! Was glad to get back to the car, sit down and glad I done it… would I do it again…. Absolutely no chance 🤣🤣read moreread lessHLB999 22/09/2022Wow. OMG my legs hate me! Was an amazing day out, some absolutely amazing views, and even went for a paddle in the pools, my feet were very thankful for that. The walk is hard going in places with the final (or first if you go the other way) waterfall having 172 rather large steps to negotiate. It was worth it though for a waterfall you can walk behind and swim in the pool if you wanted too. This walk can be done if you have some mobility restrictions as the main path is mostly gravelled and wide, however there are some steep bits, and to get down to see the falls you walk on almost un-made rocky paths or steps. It’s hard work, but absolutely worth it, would definitely recommend you give it a go.read moreread less

We started by parking our car in Four waterfalls car park which did cost £5 for all day, It's best to have cash on you as their card reader doesn't work very well. It took us nearly 7 hours to see all 4 waterfalls, take photos and have short picnic. There are some wooden table and benches along the way that you can use, if you like. - debbieparin 28/04/2022Ruined. I am from Cardiff and have visited many times but the last time was 5 years ago prior to this Easter bank holiday. This used to be a natural place of peace and beauty. It was wild and could be dangerous but the beauty that you found when you walked made it worthwhile. Years ago, no car parks, no people, no signs just you and a map to find the route. You got lost and every time found something new. Now it has been spoilt and sanitised and turned into a tourist attraction & a money spinner. Walked to eira with my kids and watched in horror at people queuing to go behind the falls to have their “experience”. Fat tourists in wetsuits bobbing about in the falls. No opportunity to take in the beauty & sit and watch the river go by in quiet. Litter everywhere. I am privileged to have seen the waterfalls before it was turned into this. Will never go back. - LucyI68 21/04/2022Beautiful walk but very very busy and crowded. Amazing scenery and trails. The waterfalls are spectacular. It was an Easter bank holiday weekend (Saturday) and it was absolutely heaving. Queues on the ascent and descent for the waterfalls. I ended up only seeing two of them just to avoid the people. The weather was amazing so once I’d got onto quieter trails it was superb walking. I’d recommend going when it’s likely to be quieter. Also just wanted to mention and thank the many many mountain rescue people that were out and about on all the trails. - L_K1509 13/11/2021Beautiful waterfalls Excellent walk to see four waterfalls.
Firstly parking is £4 all day and is adjacent to the start of the trail. At the start there is a large notice board with details of the route, the diagram of the route follows a line of numbered red dots and shows where each waterfall is in the route. Nice idea to take a picture of the route for reference.
Very easy to follow and makers are along the route. There are several parts of the route which are uneven, rocky, slippery or lots of steep steps.
The waterfalls are beautiful and gushing! The last one which is down 170 steps is the best, whereby you can walk behind the waterfall. Just beware your get absolutely soaked. The walk is on average 2-3 hours or longer in good weather, it was raining when we went but still popular.
