For those who like things to be local there are lots of lovely walks straight from the door. The Swansea Canal with its wildlife trail is 5 mins away. Another 5 minutes will take you to the River Tawe where you can stroll or picnic beside the river, sometimes spotting one of our resident herons fishing there. The traffic free and very scenic Cwmtawe Cycleway is a great way to travel then length of the valley. Up on the hill behind the cottages, public footpaths criss-cross over farm and moorland and through the ancient woods, with delightful views across the valley and up to the Brecon Beacons.

Further afield, in both Brecon Beacons and along the Gower coast, you can enjoy walking at its most rewarding, from leisurely strolls to more serious hill walking. We have dedicated walkers’ drying rooms, equipped with background heating for drying outdoor gear and a comprehensive selection of walking maps and guide books as well as our own personal recommendations on the great range of walks that can be enjoyed all year round. The Gower coast is as wonderful in winter as in summer and there is nothing to compare with being on top of Pen Y Fan on a crisp, sunny February day!

And if you forgotten to plan ahead there several good restaurants nearby eg. The Butchers Arms , The Ynysmeudwy Arms as well as excellent, great value Indian and Chinese take-aways that offer home delivery.

Very cwtch, as my Nan would say. Nicely nestled in the hill side, misty valley views and great fire to warm an evening away – and easy access to quite a few places 😉 looking forward to a return visit

Cosy and unexpectedly luxurious, this is a hidden treasure of a cottage, peaceful and yet close enough to civilisation to get out and about. We were there in winter when we lit the fire and curled up but we’ll come back when it’s warm enough to sit out on the terrace and enjoy the garden and views.

Wonderful place to crash after a full day of activities in Wales. Cottage is well appointed with all the mod cons. Lovely place to relax and unwind with a stunning view of the valley.
