Afan Forest Park (Afan Aegeod) was created in the 1970s and has grown into one of Britain’s iconic mountain bike destinations. Explore the world famous mountain Afan bike trails or just enjoy traffic free family friendly cycle and walking routes set in the huge forest park. Afan Forest Park has good facilities and bike shops paired up with local mountain biking guides and tuition services. From Afan Forest Park Visitor Centre there’s many different trails for all abilities.The rookie trail is perfect for those new to mountain biking and the traffic free cycleway is a hard surfaced rental ride through the valley alongside the Afan river. There are three walking trails from the Afan forest visitor centre which range from a short level route along a former trackway to a strenuous seven mile walk along a ridge top with panoramic views. Take a  stroll or trek through the forest where traces the valley’s industrial past have been gently reclaimed by nature.
