Nant Melyn is a 160 year old welsh cottage located in the centre of the village of Brynamman, located at the foot of the Black Mountain, part of the Brecon Beacons National Park, and within walking distance to local pubs and the village shop.
Our cottage dates back over 160 years, and is believed to be one of the very first dwellings built in the village. Peacefully secluded at the end of a terrace of cottages, offering a warm and friendly welcome with exposed beams and inviting log burning stove. Just perfect for lovers of the outdoors.
Brynamman is situated on the south facing side of the Black Mountain, part of the Brecon Beacons National Park. The village is split into Upper and Lower Brynamman by the River Amman and is the perfect base for enthusiastic walker’s and cyclists. With a host of attractions to include The Carmel nature reserve and Carreg Cennen Castle, one of the most famous and privately owned castles in Wales. The National Botanic Garden of Wales with its restored gardens and excellent tea room. The National Showcaves of Wales, Dan yr ogof, makes a great family day out. A little further afield, Pembrey beach with golden sands and views across Carmarthen Bay.
The accommodation offers TWO bedrooms: 1 double and 1 king-size zip-and-link (which can be made into a twin on request,NB this bed is 6ft long instead of standard 6ft 3) . Bathroom: with bath, separate shower and WC. Lounge/diner: with woodburner and TV/DVD. Kitchen: well-equipped with electric oven and hob, fridge/freezer, dishwasher and microwave. Utility room: with washing machine and tumble dryer. Outside: an enclosed tiered garden with patio area and seating.
Amenities: Parking for 1 car. Bed linen, towels, electric, central heating and Wi-Fi included. Location: pub and shop within walking distance. Please note that only 2 bath towels are included. Arrival: 3:00pm. Checkout 10:00am.
Your stay will be totally private, and entry to the cottage is via a unique key code sent which will be sent to you prior to your arrival. This allows you to arrive at your leisure from 3:00pm onwards on the day of arrival.
All guests will have exclusive use of the cottage.
Interaction with Guests
We aim to provide guests with a totally private stay. A guestbook is provided in the cottage which will provide you with all the information that you will require for your stay, however should you require any further information or help, we have family living in the village who will always be very happy to assist whenever possible. We also have a local contact who is always on hand.
Brynamman is a traditional Welsh speaking village, and we are perfectly located at the centre. We have small pubs, a shop, The Tregib Bar & Restaurant, a small tourist information centre with coffee shop, a cinema, and several takeaway eateries, many with free delivery. Brynamman is the Gateway to the Brecon Beacons National Park, and is located at the very top of the Amman Valley, with Ammanford town located 7 miles away at its base. There is a lovely off road cycle path running through the valley from Brynamman to Ammanford following the river Amman down stream.
Parking for 1 large or 2 small cars is directly in front of the cottage. There is a bus stop nearby. The nearest train station is Ammanford approximately 7 miles away. Brynamman has several small walks, including a nature trail in Ynys Dawela Park, small forestry walks, and walks into the Brecon Beacons National Park. Cycle down the Amman valley towards Ammanford Town on the Amman Valley cycle path.

Please note that a £20 cleaning fee will be added to every booking.
We are very pleased to welcome dogs at Nant Melyn, however please note that a small fee of £10 per dog will be charged per stay, and is payable locally on arrival.
