- Ttss Ttss 11/09/2025The waterfall itself is very nice however the path to the waterfall is steep and slippery. It is even more dangerous when wet as there is a large drop to the side. As others have mentioned, there should be railings in place for people to hold on to. This really needs proper paving and hand rails to be safely accessible.read moreread lessRachel Allen 11/09/2025Gorgeous waterfalls. It is rated as easy but you do have to be steady on your feet as the gravelly paths and steps can be slippy. I was helped by two wonderfully thoughtful walkers who turned back to accompany me, which made all the difference, as some of the steps and the climb back is steep. Aren’t people kind? It was well worth the scramble, the falls are stunning.read moreread less
- Jon Case 06/09/2025This was definitely the highlight of our our 4 day trip to South Wales. An absolutely stunning waterfall. After this dry summer we were lucky enough to visit after a few days of rain and the waterfall was in full flow. There was plenty of free parking at the top, and a 10 minute walk down a steep but well maintained path to the falls. The falls themselves are pretty epic. Be warned that if you get close to the falls or go behind them when they are in full flow you WILL get absolutely drenched, as we did. But great fun and some fantastic photos. As mentioned by others this was used as the entrance to the Batcave in The Dark Knight Rises, so a bit of a geekfest for me as well. Back to the top and a visit to the burger van and you've spent a wonderful hour. Kids and big kids, like us will have a whale of a time.read moreread less

- Leann Douglas 25/08/2025We arrived at 5pm after reading reviews about when it was busiest and had a lovely time. Absolutely beautiful waterfall, though I'm sure if there had been more water it would be truly stunning. The walk was well maintained and involves some steep slopes, wooden bridges and steep steps. To get to the falls there's a wee bit of scrambling, but nothing that an overweight middle aged woman in flip flops, like me couldn't handle! There were quite a few young families, student groups and solo explorers today. Parking was fine, several spaces left. There's a lovely burger van and campsite by the car park. They take cards and sell ice creams too. The walk back up is steep, there's no benches to break it up. It's about 10 minutes there and 20 minutes back up. We really deserved the ice-cream at the top! If you do visit, please take your litter home with you. There are no public bins, we carried several discarded bottles and cans back up and disposed of them at home. Please treat the site with respect.read moreread less

Bit slippy if you have kids and my pugs struggled getting up the water fall itself. Side note: I would say the private place next to it serving food at the burger van is vile!! Very rude people and my young daughter needed toliet (no change on us) but the lady said £1 PER PERSON (6 of us) by shouting at us. So we left it. £6 to use a toliet - nope. It took about 10 minutes from the road to the waterfall, on foot, downhill for the first few minutes of that, of course uphill at the end to get to the road again, just in case anyone has walking difficulties that is something to bear in mind. £5 for the car park and a big open field for parking/picnic at the car if you want. - DJ Reviews & Reveals 12/08/2025Henrhyd Falls is an absolutely stunning spot tucked away in beautiful countryside. The walk down is quite steep, winding through lush greenery with the sound of rushing water getting louder as you go. It’s not a long walk, but it is a tough one if you have mobility problems — the path can be uneven and gets very slippery after rain, so sturdy footwear is a must. When you reach the falls, the view is simply breathtaking. The water cascades dramatically into the pool below, and you can even walk behind the curtain of water, which is a magical experience in itself. As a huge Batman fan, this was extra special for me — Henrhyd Falls was used as the entrance to the Batcave in The Dark Knight Rises, so standing there felt like stepping into a movie scene. A little challenging to get to, but completely worth the effort for the scenery, the atmosphere, and that unforgettable view from behind the waterfall.read moreread lessAustin Bappe 12/08/2025It was beautiful, but I wouldn’t call the hike easy for young children. It was 22C the morning we visited and, as they say, “it’s not the heat that gets you, it’s the humidity”. Very little airflow in the ravine, humid as a bog, and very very steep trails both ways. Rocks were slick and wet as well. It’s beautiful and was worth it, but I would not recommend for kids under 6, especially since you’ll be carrying them out! 🫠 Also trash trash trash everywhere. If I didn’t have to haul my kids out I could have hauled a full 50 liter bag of trash!read moreread less

- Kirsty Harper 01/08/2025A beautiful waterfall to visit, especially with young children who won't manage the longer walks for some other waterfalls in the area. We had a 5 and a 7 year old and they loved it. A steep walk down and back up but only takes less than 10 minutes. We took beach shoes and a towel for a little paddle at the bottom. A little slipper if you come later in the day as the first round of people whom swim starts walking back will get the trail wet. If you go in early its all dry so no risk of falling. - Aaron Clarke 16/07/2025Tall and spectacular waterfall. Easy to travel to by car and a good sized car park at the top of the trail. This car park is also free. Overflow car park on site for those busy days but there is a charge of £5 for this. During my visit in July there was a burger van at the top of the trail selling drinks food and even ice cream. They take card payments. The car park has an information board of the area and waterfall. To get to the falls you need to walk down a fairly steep trail down then across a bridge over the river that flows down from the falls and back up some wooden steps to the other side to get there. Once at the falls you can walk a small trail running to the side, careful of slippery rocks even in summer but this leads behind the falls where there is quite a space to either sit or take pictures in relative safety. At the foot of the falls there is a pool that you can take a dip in. Be aware this is mountain water so it is very cold even in Summer.read moreread lessSantosh Sundar 13/07/2025Amazing Waterfall. About
The ‘Batman’ Waterfall is the highest single drop fall in South Wales, tucked away on the western edge of the Brecon Beacons, near the upper Swansea valley.Henrhyd Falls is a spectacular and beautiful waterfall with a unbroken drop of 90ft (27m) making it the highest waterfall in the Brecon Beacons national Park. The waterfall is owned by the National Trust and entry is free.Access
Henrhyd Waterfall is located in a deep wooded gorge which is accessible only by walking down a steep but well maintained footpath. Allow 20-30 mins each way. The walk takes you through a native woodland of Oak and Ash. A foot bridge across the river Nant leech at the bottom of the Gorge leads to a path that takes you to the waterfall itself. Particular care should be taken as you near the waterfall because the path becomes narrow, the surface more uneven and is often wet and slippery from the spray the waterfall produces. It is possible to make your way along a narrow, stony and uneven path behind the waterfall which extreme care. It is strongly advised not to try this when fall is in full flow as the spray makes it almost impossible to stand on the narrow rocky path. If you have children with you then especial care should be taken to surpass them throughout this walk.Batmans Waterfall
Henrhyd Waterfall also known locally as the Batcave after a cameo appearance in the Batman movie ‘The dark Knight Rises’. In the movie after receiving a package from Bruce, Blake locates the hidden waterfall entrance to the Batcave.Parking
A small unattended national Trust Carpark can be found at the top of the access footpath. There are several information boards showing the route of the walk.Alternative route
A longer and very scenic trail through the Nant Llech Gorge taking in several smaller falls on the way can be found near the village of Abercrave and takes approx 2 hours each way. This trail joins the main access path near the wooden bridge at the bottom of the gorge. See Nant Llech Trail for details.Photos
